It was expensive and a 6 hour drive, and we had a very poor experience. Several of our scouts never want to duo a scout camp again.
I was here for the 2017 National Scout Jamboree and I absolutely loved this place. The terrain changes quite often from wide open fields to thick trees. This site allows for all different types of activities, from fishing to zip lining. This place offeres it all. The site is incredibly large and a great place just to wonder and take in all of the beautiful West Virginia moutians. The restroom facilities are enclosed but not fully there is a an exposed bottom about 8" tall where wind and leafs can blow through. Now be aware the temperatures are freezing cold even in the middle of summer it would take your breath away. There are no stall doors, instead there are white curtains. I would highly recommend this site to any troop who is looking for a fun high adventure experience!
BSA had a real opportunity, and could have used it as a dry run for Jamboree. But they didn't care and and they failed miserably.
This place is huge! Disneyland for Boy Scouts. Facilities are new and well kept. Great job on the charging stations placed throughout the camp. The price of the camp was a little steep. I question the value, but it was an overall good experience.
Nice camp, but was very poorly ran for our large group camp (3000+ campers). Staying was woefully inadequate and boys were often turned away from activities. Camp was short of lifeguards and asked for volunteers, but wouldn't let scouts lifeguard despite Red Cross certs. They expected leaders to pick up the slack.
I was here in 2013 for the National Jamboree. It was a great experience. The facilities were great. The location is awesome. All of the activities they have on sight are amazing. Being able to participate with so many other thousand of Scouts was great. I especially loved the biking area and the climbing walls that they have. I never was able to get the one clima done. Right on the corner of one of the walls, with a slight overhang. I certainly tried though. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to come back for the World Jamboree. Should be fun.
I went there for the Boy Scout National Jamboree and the facility was great. This is the biggest Scout Camp you'll ever go to. They are still working on a few items but definitely held 40,000 people easily. I can't wait to go to the World Jamboree there. If you have the chance to go I highly recommend it.
